Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy starrer "Thani Oruvan" has continued its dominance at Chennai box office in its third weekend. It has managed to perform better than new releases like "Yatchan" and "Strawberry" along with blockbuster "Baahubali".
"Thani Oruvan", which had fantastic two weeks, continued to pull audience in third weekend too. It had 174 shows and collected Rs 75.75 lakh last weekend, reports Behindwoods.
While the Tamil movie had earned Rs 1.28 crore In its first weekend, in its second weekend the movie collected Rs 1.06 crore at Chennai box office. The total collection of the movie by the end of 18 days is Rs 4.86 crore. The movie, which has grossed over Rs 50 crore in Tamil Nadu, could break some records soon.
Latest release "Yatchan" starring Arya, Deepa Sannidhi, Kreshna and Swati Reddy also got a good opening. The movie collected Rs 63.83 lakh from 180 shows - better than Arya's recent movie, "Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga", which had made a business of Rs 54.87 lakh from 165 shows.
"Yatchan" got mixed reviews and apparently the tough times are ahead for the movie as a couple of hyped films are going to be released for the Ganesh Chathurthi weekend.
The other release, "Strawberry", made only Rs 17.08 lakh from 90 shows.
Meanwhile, the business of SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" has dipped as the film could only make Rs 2.95 lakh from 24 shows on its 10th weekend. The total collection made by the movie in Chennai stands at Rs 8.23 crore.
