Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer "Phantom" has failed to cross the Rs 50 crore at the domestic box office, but it managed to make it to the top 10 first week box office collection in India.
"Phantom" earned Rs 47.40 crore in its first week in India. It was expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in its first week, but the box office collection dropped on the fifth and seventh day.
"#Phantom Fri 8.46 cr, Sat 12.78 cr, Sun 11.94 cr, Mon 4.40 cr, Tue 3.63 cr, Wed 3.31 cr, Thu 2.88 cr. Total: ₹ 47.40 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first week figure of "Phantom".
The action drama, directed by Kabir Khan, will now cross the half century mark by its second weekend as the collections will drop further in its second week due to the release of "Welcome Back".
Meanwhile, "Phantom" has earned $ 1.65 million (Rs 10.97 crore) from the overseas box office in one week. The first week worldwide box office collection has crossed Rs 58.37 crore mark.
"#Phantom Overseas total: $ 1.65 million [₹ 10.97 cr]. Some territories yet to report... UAE-GCC contributed more than 50% biz," Adarsh tweeted.
Meanwhile, John Abraham and Shruti Haasan starrer "Welcome Back" has opened to good response at the box office. The comedy entertainer, which is a sequel to 2007 film "Welcome", is expected to have a double-digit opening in India.
"Welcome Back", directed by Anees Bazmee, has registered good occupancy at the domestic box office in the morning and evening shows.
"#WelcomeBack takes a good start at the domestic BO... India screen count: 3200 screens," Adarsh added.
The comedy drama, which opened to mixed reviews, features Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Sakshi Maggo in pivotal roles.
