Pawan Kalyan's latest release "Attarintiki Daredi" is said to have earned more than Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster film "Chennai Express", as far as Thursday's paid previews collection in the United States is concerned.
"Attarintiki Daredi" collected $429,000 from Thursday's preview in the US, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He had tweeted in August that "Chennai Express" earned $260,000 from paid previews in the US. He went on to say that the final figure was yet to be revealed, but the film is very unlikely to cross the preview collection of "Attarintiki Daredi".
The comedy-drama directed by Trivikram Srinivas created an opening day box office record in the Telugu film industry by raking in more than ₹10 crore. Adarsh tweeted that the film has earned ₹22.18 crore at the Andhra Pradesh box office in three days.
The film is also doing well at the overseas box office, earning over $1.5 million in just three days. It is also reported that it has been listed in the top 15 at the US box office.
"Attarintiki Daredi" starring Pawan Kalyan, Samantha, Pranitha, Boman Irani and Nadhiya in the lead roles was released on 27 September amid much hype and expectations.
It may be recalled that Rohit Shetty's directorial "Chennai Express" had broken many records in Indian cinema when it was released last month. It became the biggest opener ever in Bollywood with ₹33.12 crore and was also the fastest film to cross the ₹100-crore mark and ₹200-crore mark. Its second day collection of ₹28.05 crore was the highest and the film went on to become the highest grosser in India by earning ₹225 crore, beating "3 Idiots" collection of ₹202.67 crore. It was also reported that the film surpassed the worldwide record held by Aamir's film.
