The business of Junior NTR's "Nannaku Prematho", which did superb collection on the first day, was slightly affected by new releases "Dictator" and "Express Raja" at the box office on the second day.
"Nannaku Prematho", which had huge hype, promotion and advance booking, was released in 1,800 screens across the globe on 13 January. The movie opened to earth-shattering response and collected over Rs 25 crore gross at the worldwide box office on its first day. It smashed the record of "Attarintiki Daredi" and became the third all-time highest opener after "Baahubali" and "Srimanthudu".
The Sukumar-directed family drama film received positive feedback from viewers and the word of mouth was expected to boost its collection on Thursday. But the movie clashed with "Dictator" and "Express Raja", which became the first choice for many viewers, making "Nannaku Prematho" a second option. They also diverted the attention of those who wanted to watch the Junior NTR film a second time.
"Nannaku Prematho" witnessed around 40% dip in its business on its Thursday, mainly due to the lack of extra shows the film had in the early hours of its opening day. The movie registered very good occupancy and ran to packed houses in many centres. However, its business is much bigger than the second day collections of any previous film of Junior NTR.
As per early estimates, "Nannaku Prematho" has collected approximately Rs 15 crore gross at the worldwide box office on its second day. Its two-day global gross total stands Rs 40 crore. The movie will cross the Rs 50-crore mark on its third day. It is estimated to have fetched its distributors Rs 25 crore in two days.
"Dictator" released in around 900 screens across the globe on 14 January and registered very good occupancy everywhere. The movie is estimated to have collected Rs 11 crore gross at the worldwide box office on its first day, and fetched its distributors Rs 7.50 crore. It has beaten the record of "Lion" and become the second-biggest grosser for Nandamuri Balakrishna after "Legend".
"Express Raja" released in over 500 screens on 14 January and registered even better occupancy than "Dictator". The movie is estimated to have collected Rs 5 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day. It has become the biggest opener for Sharwanand. The trends on Friday show the word of mouth has taken its business upwards.
