PK
Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" has done fantastic business not just in northern circuits, but also in key southern markets. The film has struck gold in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh/Nizam box offices. It has emerged as the highest grossing Bollywood film in Tamil Nadu and also turned out to be a huge hit at the AP/Nizam box office.
The film has collected over ₹17.5 crore nett at the end of the third weekend (2-4 January) in AP/Nizam areas, according to Andhraboxoffice (ABO).
"PK" has emerged as the industry hit by raking in over ₹300 crore at the Indian box office. It has grossed over ₹600 crore at the worldwide box office. The film is expected to continue its decent run despite new releases.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, "PK" has Aamir playing the role of an alien. Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani appear in pivotal roles.
Mukunda
Varun Tej's debut film "Mukunda" took good openings at the box office, but has failed to sustain its momentum. The film has minted ₹10.87 crore in its first week at the worldwide box office. However, its collections dropped in the second week, resulting in a poor second weekend.
According to ABO, "Mukunda" worldwide theatricals is valued at over ₹18 crore. The film might not recover its costs and might end up as a flop.
Chinnadana Nee Kosam
Nithiin-starrer "Chinnadana Nee Kosam" has done average business at the AP/Nizam box office. The film, which minted ₹12.47 crore in its opening week, has managed to hold well despite getting mixed reviews from critics.
Raghuvaran B.Tech
The Telugu dubbed version of Dhanush-starrer "Velai Illa Pattathari" ("VIP") is likely to emerge as the first hit of 2015 at the AP/Nizam box office. The film, which was released in limited number of screens, received good reviews from critics. The action-drama flick took decent openings and fared well at the box office.
Lingaa
Rajinikanth-starrer "Lingaa" has turned out to be a box office disaster. The film had good openings, but failed to continue its good run due to average reviews. The Hindi version has also failed to set cash registers ringing, though the Tamil version has done good business.
Gopala Gopala Set to Release this Weekend
Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh starrer "Gopala Gopala" is set to hit the screens this weekend. It is expected to take huge box office openings and likely to dominate the screens.The release of "Gopala Gopala" might affect the business of "PK" and Telugu films at the AP/Nizam box office.
