'Bhale Bhale Magadivoi' (Magadivoy/BBM) has turned out to be one of the biggest Tollywood money spinners and it has also beaten the big-ticket Bollywood movie 'Welcome Back' in the USA.
Actor Nani had got a big break from 'Eega', which amassed a huge amount fans for him in America and Canada. In a bid to cash in on his popularity, the distributors of the movie made massive plans for the release of 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoi' in the country. They released the film on 113 screens in the USA and 3 screens in Canada.
Its distributors held paid premieres in several locations on Thursday night and 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoi' recorded very good response. The film raked in $ 70,132 at the USA box office in the preview show. The movie smashed the record of 'Eega', which was the biggest opener for Nani.
'Bhale Bhale Magadivoi' garnered positive reviews from the audiences in the country. The word of mouth took its business upwards in the following days. The Nani and Lavanya Tripathi starrer went on to collect $ 718,378 (Rs 4.8 crore) at the USA box office in the first weekend.
Indian film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Telugu film #BhaleBhaleMagadivoi is UNSTOPPABLE in USA. Goes from strength to strength with each passing day... contd." 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoi' has topped the USA business chart, beating John Abraham and Shruti Haasan's 'Welcome Back', which collected $553,884 (Rs 3.7 crore) from 135 screens in the opening weekend. Its per-screen average stands at $6357, which is much bigger than that of the Bollywood movie, which has raked in an average of $4,102 per screen in the country.
However, 'Eega' was the biggest opener for Nani in the USA and had also registered the highest collection in the opening weekend. The film collected $538,996 from 31 screens at the USA box office. The breakup of its opening weekend collection is $42,409 on Thursday, $156,408 on Friday, $144,260 on Saturday and $195,919 on Sunday. Its per-screen average stood at $17,387.
Nani's latest outing 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoi' has smashed both the records of 'Eega', but it has failed to beat the third record of the latter -- the per-screen average collection, which is little less than 1/3 of that of the SS Rajamouli-directed movie.
