Check out the Chennai box office collection report of "Arima Nambi", "Ramanujan", "Mundasupatti", "Vadacurry" and "Nalanum Nandhiniyum."

"Arima Nambi"

Vikram Prabhu-Priya Anand starrer "Arima Nambi" dominated in its second weekend despite new releases.

"Arimba Nambi" hit screens on 4 July and took a good opening at the Chennai box office. The film has continued to stay on top as there is no big competition from other new releases.

The film is estimated to have grossed ₹1.92 crore in ten days at the Chennai box office. It witnessed average theatre occupancy of 60 percent during weekends, while its average theatre occupancy was 40 percent during weekdays, reported Behindwoods.

The action thriller is expected to continue its good run for another few days until the release of Dhanush's "Velai Illa Pattadhaari" ("VIP"), which will be out on 18 July. "VIP" is likely to have a wide release and this might reduce the screen count for "Arima Nambi." "VIP" could pose a big threat to the Vikram Prabhu starrer.

Ramanujan

"Ramanujan", a film based on the Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, has taken a below average opening at the Chennai box office.

The film, starring Abhinay Vaddi and Bhama, hit screens on 11 July. The film's performance has been poor and it minted over ₹5 lakh in its first weekend. The biographical project carries some positive reviews from critics, which might help the film to fetch some decent collections in the coming days.

Nalanum Nandhiniyum

The performance of "Nalanum Nandhiniyum", starring Michael Thangadurai and Nandita has been below par. The film managed to mint only ₹2.45 lakh in its opening weekend at the Chennai box office, according to Behindwoods website.

The reviews for the romantic entertainer have not been encouraging. It remains to be seen if the film will be able to earn some decent collections in the future.

Mundasupatti

Vishnu Vishal-Nandita's "Mundasupatti" has turned out to be a hit at the box office. It is estimated to have grossed over ₹1.66 crore at the end of the fifth weekend in Chennai.

Directed by debutant Ram Kumar, "Mundasupatti" is a romantic comedy entertainer that fetched positive feedback from critics and the audience alike. The film has been profitable for its producers as they made money from theatricals and television rights.

Thanks to the success of the film, its producers Fox Star Studios and C.V. Kumar's Thirukumaran Entertainment are planning to make a sequel for the film. They have invited audiences to come up with interesting ideas for the sequel.

"Mundasupatti" is expected to go on floors in early 2015.

Vadacurry

Jai-Swati's "Vadacurry" is just an average grosser. The film has grossed over ₹1.6 crore since its release on 19 June till 13 July.

The comedy thriller successfully completed 25-day theatrical run on 13 July. With new releases in the pipeline, the film is expected to lose more shows in theatres.
