Post its entry in the ₹100 crore club, "2 States" is now heading for ₹150 crore mark at worldwide box office. Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer "2 States" has received tremendous success in India as well as international box office market.
The romantic film has accumulated over ₹102 crore from its 24 days run at the domestic box office, while from international market it managed to raked in over ₹33.59 crore after completing its three weeks.
The domestic and overseas combined total of the film now stands at ₹135.72 crore.
"And #2States hits a ton. Crosses ₹ 100 cr mark. Week 4: Fri 70 lacs, Sat 1.06 cr, Sun 1.42 cr. Grand total: ₹ 102.13 cr nett. SUPER HIT," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"'2States' Overseas total [after 3 weeks]: $ 5.6 million [₹ 33.59 cr]. USA-Canada $ 2.08 mn, UAE $ 1.23 mn, UK $ 806k, Australia $ 379k,".
"2 States" is the second film of the year to hit the century mark after "Jai Ho." It is one of the most successful films of this year after "Queen." Both the films were made on a low budget, unlike "Jai Ho." Also, both the films did well without featuring any superstars or Khans in it.
Box office had witnessed a dull period in the first quarter with only two or three films earning the superhit status. Even Salman Khan's "Jai Ho" failed to make a mark when released.
In the first quarter, "Jai Ho", "Gunday", "Queen" and "Ragini MMS 2" fared decent amount from the Indian market.
However, it is expected that the second quarter will end the box office dry spell. "2 States"
has already made a mark by earning more than ₹100 crore mark. And the upcoming releases "Heropanti", "Holiday", "Hamshakals" and "Ek Villian" among others in May and June are likely to create magic at the box office.
