"Grand Masti" has become the first film ever in the adult comedy genre to hit a century at the Indian box office. The adult comedy film crossed the ₹100-crore mark in 23 days of its release in the country.
"And it's a century... #GrandMasti crosses ₹100 cr nett mark in India. First 'Adults' film to attain this status," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Despite the release of Ranbir Kapoor starrer "Besharam", "Grand Masti" continued to draw audiences. In most regions, "Grand Masti" remained the first choice among viewers.
"Grand Masti" has become Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi's first film to hit the century mark. Riteish Deshmukh has already entered the coveted club with "Housefull 2".
It became the fifth film to earn ₹100 crore at the Indian box office and the seventh at the worldwide box office. The film collected ₹100 crore in just 20 days in the worldwide markets.
The film has also surpassed the lifetime collection record of action film "Race 2", which was the first flick of this year to earn ₹100 crore.
When it comes to number of days for a film to earn ₹100 crore, "Grand Masti" overtaken Farhan Akhtar's "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag".
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", which was declared a tax free film in several states, has taken 25 days while "Grand Masti" made it in just 23 days.
