Protests held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activsts led to the cancellation of three shows of "Bajirao Mastani" in Pune's City Pride theatre on Friday. Also, BJP Yuva Morcha protested against Shah Rukh Khan's "Dilwale" in Jabalpur.
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, which depicts the love story of Maratha general Peshwa Bajirao and Muslim princess Mastani, has been facing issues from the beginning,
The makers of the film have been accused of distorting historical facts and the descendants of Peshwa and Chhatrasal dynasty had organised the protest at Shaniwarwada, which is the ancestral capital of the Peshwas.
Meanwhile, "Dilwale" too has been targeted by BJP activists in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
The protest against the film has gone so far that two youths from the Bajrang Dal climbed a tower in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, to protest the screening of "Dilwale", The Indian Express reported.
Rohit Shetty's film has been attacked since SRK made the infamous 'intolerance' remark.
On 2 November, Khan had said at a press conference in Mumbai that "religious intolerance and not being secular is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot." However, he reportedly retracted his comments and apologised for it.

However, it remains to be seen if the protests will have any impact on "Dilwale", as audiences have been waiting to watch the much-loved pair of Shah Rukh and Kajol.
"Dilwale" features Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. On the other hand, "Bajirao Mastani" stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
