A man armed with a knife and a meat cleaver created havoc at a cafe in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday, in a chilling reminder of the Lindt cafe siege in Sydney last December,.
The man, who called himself "messiah of Islam", smashed windows at the La Trobe St cafe in Melbourne, scaring customers before moving to a restaurant on the first floor of the building.

In a video clip of the incident, the man is heard calling out for his mother and asking the police to shoot him.
Australia had been shocked by a terror siege at the Lindt cafe in Sydney last December by a man who took hostages for over 16 hours and killed at least one before he was shot dead by the police. Another hostage died after being hit by a police bullet during the clash.
