Alok Nath, who has been the butt of jokes and memes of late, due to his 'Sanskaari Babuji' image in both TV serials and films, is all set to don the comic hat.
The actor will reportedly be seen in a comic avatar in the TV show called "Nadaniyaan."
The 57-year-old's character will be an interesting once, as he will be seen playing a dead person. However, the character comes to life through a photo frame and would be seen conversing with the rest of the show's characters.
The image is certainly a breakaway from Nath's usual 'culturally enriched head of the family' roles.
"I will be playing a comic character after almost two decades. It would be difficult to break away from a set image, but as an actor, one would love to experiment with roles," confirmed the actor to The Times of India.
"Nadaniyaan" is remake of a popular Pakistani show. It centers round a family and its three peculiar characters: a self-proclaimed writer, his nagging wife and his lazy brother. Nath will be seen as the former head of the family, who can be seen conversing with his clumsy son. The show is aired on Big Magic.
Nath's role would remind many of the famous sitcom "Hum Paanch", where a similar character was present. The once-popular show had featured Priya Tendulakar as the main protagonist Anand Mathur's first wife, who would communicate via her photo frame despite being dead.
