"Ivan Vera Mathiri" grossed ₹2.1 crore in its first day and fetched ₹2 crore on the second day at the box office. The film's two-day collections stand at ₹4.1 crore, according to Andhraboxoffice.
The action thriller film, which released on 13 December, received mixed reviews (but mostly positive) from critics. Expectations were high for the film as the debut flicks of both the actor ("Kumki") and director Saravanan ("Engeyum Eppodhum") were big hits.
"Ivan Vera Mathiri" had a solo big release worldwide with more than 500 screens. Details about its opening weekend collections are still not available.
It remains to be seen how the film fares during the weekdays. "Ivan Vera Mathiri" has just about four days to post decent figures at the box office as several films are gearing up for release from 20 December. This Friday Karthi's "Biriyani", Jiiva's "Endrendrum Punnagai" and Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" will hit screens in Tamil Nadu. There are also a handful of films releasing during the next week.
The release of new films will reduce the screen count for past releases. The number of screens for "Ivan Vera Mathiri" is likely to come down from Friday onwards, which might affect the film's revenue.
"Ivan Vera Mathriri" is a slick action thriller with Vikram Prabhu playing a visual communication student on a job hunt. Newcomer Surabhi plays the female lead. The other cast members include Ganesh Venkatraman, Vamsi Krishna and Hariraj.
The film's story is about how a common man turns into a vigilante to fight against injustice.
