Hrithik Roshan's much-awaited film "Krrish 3" is expected to have a grand release in Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the Diwali festival.
Following the astounding success of "Chennai Express", theatres in these southern states are enthusiastic about "Krrish 3", a sequel to the blockbusters "Koi Mil Gaya" and "Krrish."
Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" was released in more than 3,500 screens worldwide. Even in southern states, "Chennai Express" had a massive release, which has largely helped the film's business.
In the Kerala-Tamil Nadu region, "Chennai Express" has become the highest-grossing Hindi film raking in approximately ₹8.55 crore. The film has been declared a mega blockbuster in these states.
Now, the "Krrish 3" team has started booking screens for its diwali release in TN and Kerala. Confirming the news, senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted, "#Krrish3 has already started booking screens in TN/Kerala 4 Diwali. After #ChennaiExpress stupendous success, theaters r gung -ho about it."
The Hrithik starrer will be also be dubbed in Tamil and have a simultaneous release with the Hindi version on Diwali. According to a report in sify, the Tamil Nadu and Kerala rights including the dubbing rights of the film have been purchased for a whopping price by Kerala-based Thameens Films.
The promos of "Krrish 3" have generated a lot of buzz among the audience. The film's trailer has been viewed more than one crore times on the video-sharing site YouTube, after which expectations have sky rocketed.
"Krrish 3" is reportedly made on a big budget of ₹90 crore as it has a lot of special effects. The superhero film has a multi-star cast including Vivek Oberoi, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.
It remains to be seen if the film will be able to do good business in southern states in the likes of "Chennai Express". The SRK-starrer had a solo big release in Tamil Nadu, thanks to the delay in Vijay's "Thalaivaa" release.
But "Krrish 3" might not be as lucky as "Chennai Express"; several Tamil biggies are expected to release on Diwali. According to Sreedhar, there are at least five Tamil films proposed for a Diwali release. The list includes Ajith's "Arrambam", Karthi's "All in all Azhagu Raja", Arya's "Irandam Ulagam", Simbu's much-delayed "Vaalu" and Vikram Prabhu's "Ivan Vera Mathiri".
There were also speculations that Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam 2" might also hit the screens on Diwali. However, an official announcement on the same is yet to be made.
With so many big releases, it is not clear if "Krrish 3" will be able to get more screens across theaters in Tamil Nadu.
