The opening ceremony of the sixth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on Tuesday at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata where Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif are set to enthral the audience.
The stars will be joined by American rapper Pitbull on stage in front of a live audience of 1, 20,000.
Assuring that it will be a "never-seen-before" event Shahrukh said, "The opening nite of IPL 2013 will be a spectacular ceremony, the likes of which India has never seen before," reported Press Trust of India.
"I will be performing to some of my songs. Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone, two of my co-stars, will also be there. Pitbull, the international rapper, will thrill the audiences."
Shahrukh said that IPL and mainstream cinema shared some similar traits like "excitement, suspense, tension, joy, heartbreak, and action."
Shahrukh, Deepika and Katrina will share the stage together for the first time. After the trio's performance, international rapper is expected to join them on stage where they will groove to some of his popular numbers.
A huge stage has been set up for the opening ceremony at Salt Lake Stadium. There will also be performances from cheerleaders, flying drummers, gymnasts, rhythm acrobats, stilt-walkers, air-tumblers and mass dancers.
A group performance by around 300 dancers to a track composed by Bollywood composer Pritam will also be held that night. To give the event an international touch, a troupe of 19 Red Poppy artistes, a band of women percussionists from China, will also perform at the opening ceremony.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will reportedly attend the event.
