Volkswagen India introduced an upgraded variant of its popular-selling hatchback, Polo, in India on Valentine's Day.
The new sporty Polo SR hatchback is launched only in the petrol variant and will be available for ₹6.27 lakh. The car sports a 1.2 liter 3 cylinder petrol engine which can generate a power of 75 bhp at 5400 RPM and a torque of 110 Nm at 3750 RPM.
"The Polo is an important carline in the Indian portfolio and we would like to continuously keep it relevant and exciting for our customers," said Arvind Saxena, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Managing Director at the launch, PTI reported.
The car comes with under skirting in the front, roof spoiler in the rear and chrome Exhaust. It sports 15-inch diametre alloy wheels and changes in fog lamps and front grille. Other new features include adjustable ORVMs, multi-information display, two-dic RCD320 audio system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable driver seat, rear wiper and rear parking sensors. The new Polo Sporty comes with safety features like Dual air bags, ABS and Rear defogger.
Volkswagen has made good sales in the country over the past couple of years. The smaller variant of Polo, which was launched last year, has marked sizeable number of sales.
