Amitabh Bachchan, brand ambassador for United Nations Girl Child, donated ₹25 lakh on Saturday to a charitable trust, Plan India, which works for the betterment of girl children.
Amitabh along with wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya on Saturday at his residence "Janak" donated the amount to Nihalani, chairperson of Plan India Board, and Bhagyashri Dengle, executive director of the body.
The donation amount was generated from sales of the book "B 70". Last year, on his 70th birthday Jaya Bachchan brought out the book "B 70" which features paintings of 70 prominent artists in India.
The additional profits from the sale of the book would also be donated to Plan India.
