At least four people were killed and four others injured in a landslide in Visakhapatnam city in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
Rescue and relief teams were rushed to the spot and injured victims were shifted to a nearby hospital, according to reports.
The incident occurred in Thatichetlapalem, a suburb in Visakhapatnam. Several houses were buried when rocks started falling down the hillside in the region, IANS reported.
The incident led to the instant death of three people while another died on his way to the King George Hospital, an official said.
Heavy rains throughout Saturday night is believed to have caused the landslide.
State minister for human resource G Srinivas Rao, who visited the site, said that several houses are built in areas vulnerable to landslides.
