'Ambarsariya' continues to dominate 'Love Punjab,' 'Ardaas' at overseas box office

"Ambarsariya," "Love Punjab" and "Ardaas" have shown considerable amount of drop in their collection at overseas box office, though there was no new Punjabi release this weekend.

Old Punjabi movies were expected to continue their run in the key international markets as there were no releases either from Punjabi or Hindi. However, Pawan Kalyan's Telugu film "Sardar Gabbar Singh" forced them out of many cinema halls and also slowed down their business at the overseas box office.

"Ambarsariya" has collected approximately US$54,824 from 45 screens at the overseas box office in its third weekend and its per-screen average is $1,218. Its 17-day international business total stands at US$1470629 (Rs. 9.72 crore). The movie was expected to cross the $1.5-million mark in its third weekend, but it has failed to achieve this feat. "Love Punjab" has collected US$11,267 from 9 screens at the overseas box office in its fifth weekend. Its per-screen average - $1,251 is bigger than that of "Ambarsariya". The movie has collected approximately a total of $2,244,066 in the key international markets in 31 days. It has become the highest grossing Punjabi movie overseas in 2016.

"Ardaas" has grossed approximately US$2,858 from 18 screens at the overseas box office in its fifth weekend, taking its 31-day international total to $1,049,494. It has become the third highest grossing Punjabi movie overseas in 2016 after "Love Punjab" and "Ambarsariya."
