'Akhil' first day box office collection: Akhil-Sayesha film biggest opener for debut hero

Akhil Akkineni's "Akhil: The Power of Jua" has done superb collection at the box office and become the biggest opener for the debutant Telugu hero, beating the record of "Mukunda".

"Akhil: The Power of Jua" had been creating positive buzz ever since it was announced. Its promos generated a lot of curiosity among filmgoers. In addition, the makers also promoted it massively. The huge hype helped the film get decent advance booking for its opening day.

The Akhil Akkineni and Sayesha Sehgal-starrer released as a Diwali treat in more than 700 cinema halls across Andhra Predesh and Telangana on 11 November, and became the biggest release for a debutant hero. Its screening began in some areas in the early hours of Wednesday, and the movie registered decent response everywhere.

"Akhil: The Power of Jua" registered an average of 90% occupancy in both single-screen theatres and multiplexes across both the states. It ran to packed houses in many cinema halls on its opening day. As per early estimates, the film has grossed over Rs 10 crore at the AP/Telangana box office on the first day, and its approximate distributor share stands at Rs 7.50 crore.

Varun Teja's first movie "Mukunda" got a share of Rs 3.36 crore for its distributors on the first day, and it was the biggest opener for a debutant hero in recent years. "Akhil: The Power of Jua" has beaten this record by fetching more than double that amount.

"Akhil: The Power of Jua" released in 200 cinema halls in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other parts of India, and 250 screens overseas. The movie has scored a solid punch in these areas, too. As per early estimates, the film has grossed approximately Rs 86 lakh in the international market and Rs 5.5 crore in the rest of India on the first day. Its opening-day gross total stands at Rs 13.86 crore.
