Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala is reportedly battling cancer and is currently hospitalised for treatment, The Times of India reported.
The "Khamoshi" star was admitted to Jaslok hospital in Mumbai two days ago and will continue to receive treatment from there. It is not known as to how advanced she is in her illness.
Before she was admitted, Koirala had fallen unconscious after complaining of food poisoning.
"down with bad food poisoning :((( glad i m with my fam, good to be with loving n caring people.." she had tweeted a week back.
The actress, who was in Kathmandu when the incident occurred, was flown to Mumbai where she had to undergo tests.
Authorities at Jaslok hospital confirmed she was admitted but failed to specify her illness. Hospital spokesperson Krishnakant Dasyam said, "She is undergoing some medical tests and will be in the hospital for some time," as quoted by PTI.
Koirala's mother is presently with her at the hospital. Her father and brother were said to have reached Mumbai Wednesday night to be with her.
Post her divorce from businessman husband Samrat Dahal, the 42-year-old actress went back to Mumbai hoping to make a comeback in films.
Know for her drinking and smoking addiction, Koirala had piled on weight in between her marriage and often appeared stressed out and weary in public.
Koirala was considered quite a versatile actress and her talent had several filmmakers pining to work with her during the peak of her career. Her first debut was with Subhash Ghai's movie 'Saudagar' in 1991. She was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Bhoot 2, which was released in October.
