Telugu movie "1 Nenokkadine" starring Mahesh Babu has turned out to be a big disaster in the Telugu film industry's history.
"1 Nenokkadine", a psychological thriller, was released on 10 January amid huge expectations from fans. Despite having one of Telugu cinema's biggest stars in the lead role, "1 Nenokkadine" failed to impress the critics as well as the audience.
The first day collections of the film were expected to break "Attarintiki Daredi" figures, but it did not happen. While "1 Nenokkadine" earned ₹8.4 crore share on the first day of its release, the film's collections dropped in the following days. Negative word of mouth and the release of the other biggie -"Yevadu" - affected "1 Nenokkadine" performance.
The film has earned a worldwide share of approximately ₹29 crore and around ₹14-₹15 crore revenue through other sources including satellite rights and music. Its actual revenue will be approximately ₹43-44 crore. However, the film's budget including promotions and publicity is a whopping ₹70 crore. The Mahesh Babu starrer is estimated to have faced a loss of ₹26-₹27 crore, according to Andhraboxoffice.
Mahesh, who was riding high with back-to-back successful films including "Dookudu", "Businessman" and "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu", has now faced a setback with the failure of "1 Nenokkadine." But, the actor is expected to regain the top spot with his upcoming films.
He is currently busy with Sreenu Vaitla's "Aagadu", which is likely to hit the screens during Dussera 2014. The actor is all set to work with director Puri Jagannadh of "Pokkiri" fame for the second time.
Mahesh will reportedly be doing Puri's film in parallel with UTV-Koratala Siva's film, which he had already agreed to do. The Andhraboxoffice website reports that Mahesh Babu is targeting Sankranti and summer 2015 to release his two films. However, there is no official confirmation from the actor.
